Southern News Dispatch

Editorial policy

Southern News Dispatch aims to make regional geography clear without pretending that a simplified account captures every place. We write for general readers and distinguish explanation from certainty.

Accuracy and clarity

We check factual claims against suitable material before publication, use geographic terms carefully and explain the limits of maps or examples. When a subject is disputed or uncertain, we say so rather than presenting a neat answer as settled fact.

Independence

Editorial decisions rest on the usefulness and relevance of a subject to readers. A partnership does not buy editorial approval, and commercial relationships do not determine our conclusions.

Corrections

Readers can report a possible error through the Contact page. We review the claim and, when a correction is warranted, update the relevant wording and make the change clear to readers.

Partner material and illustrations

Material created with a partner is labelled so readers can distinguish it from independent editorial work. Some illustrations may be generated with AI; where used, they are identified and are not presented as documentary evidence.

Our point of view

Place makes more sense when you look closely

A map is a starting point, not the whole story. We connect visible patterns to the geographic ideas that help readers make sense of them.
